Can 'Bella Swan' play a believable stripper?

Twilight star, Kristen Stewart has chosen as much risky role to portray compared to her much-loved character of Bella Swan. Stewart will be playing a down-and-out stripper in her next film, Meet The Rileys. The film which is set to hit theaters on November 3rd with a limited release is already recieving much critical acclaim.

The movies premise focuses around the character of Doug Riley, who is played by James Gandolfini (The Sopranos) as he travels down to New Orleans on a business trip. Doug and his wife, Lois played by Melissa Leo (Everybody's Fine) appear to be going through a difficult time with the lose of their daughter. It isn't until Doug wanders into a strip club that he meets Mallory (Stewart's character). At first, the audience is led to believe that Doug is going to make a move on Mallory, that is until we discover Mallory looks identical to his deceased daughter. Soon after, Doug takes Mallory under his wing and tried to make her into a better person which in turn makes his relationship with his wife only stronger.

A drastic difference from her reviews as playing vampire-loving, Bella Swan- reviewers seem to be approving of her acting chops playing the barely-clad stripper. One viewer from an early-screening of the film called Stewart "electric" saying that her performance as the girl "on the wrong-side-of-the-tracks" was impressive. Other reviewers have titled the film as being a strong character-driven, family drama film with a great story.

Film.com contributor, Laremy Legel claims that the film doesn't comform to it's narrative expectations calling it an "engaging, intense viewing experience" after viewing the film at The Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Stewart seems on her way to breaking the mold that the three Twilight films: Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse have put her into. Stewart also stared in the biopic film The Runaways, playing music legend Joan Jett alongside Dakota Fanning who portrayed Cherie Currie earlier this year.
