Could another Oscar win be in Nicole Kidman's future?

Nicole Kidman's newest film, Rabbit Hole centers around a happy couple, Becca (Nicole Kidman- Nine) and Howie Corbett (Aaron Eckhart- The Dark Knight) whos lives are turned upside down after their young son Danny, dies in an accident. The couple though desolated with grief find solace in others as Becca begins to have a mysterious relationship with the teenager Jason, who is responsible for her son's death. While Howie immerses himself in memories from his past to seek refuge from his inner-struggle of his son's demise.

The film which is based off the award-winning play of the same name, is the first feature length production in which Nicole Kidman plays a lead acting role and a producer. Although the film was shot primarily in New York City, it is not yet available to the public and is only set to be released in theaters in France this Wednesday.

After Kidman's first Oscar win for best acress in the film, The Hours in 2002, Kidman hasn't appeared to have much luck with her films. But critics are now already generating Oscar buzz for Kidman's performance as a grieving mother in Rabbit Hole which could mean a second Oscar win for the Austrailian actress. As luck would have it, Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City 2) who played the Becca during the Broadway production received a Tony for playing the same role in 2006.

Fans of Kidman are rooting for her to win stating, "She's getting very much praise at festivals and she's the comeback darling. I think it would be nice to see her win for something great." Although we won't know who has been nominated for an Oscar until the end of this year, Kidman does appear to have some heavy speculated competition. Critics are also considering Natalie Portman (New York, I Love You) to be a forerunner this season for her portrayal as a ballerina in the film Black Swan. Carey Mulligan (Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps) who was nominated for an Oscar last year for her role in An Education is also a contender this year for her part in the film Never Let Me Go.
