Did we really need a 'Mean Girls 2'?

Short answer, no, absolutely not. The first "Mean Girls" feature film made a fierce killing at the box office in 2004 and brought many unknowns until the spotlight, such as Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfriend. Not to mention, it stared the now infamous actress, Lindsay Lohan. But the sequel to the comedy-drama seems to be anything but good compared to its predecessor. The original, which was produced and adapted from the book, Queen Bees and Wannabes by Tina Fey has now been taken over by screenwriters Elana Lesser and Cliff Ruby whose credits both only involve just about every "Barbie" animated film known to man-kind.

"Mean Girls 2" centers around Abby Hanover (Jennifer Stone- Harper on "Wizards of Waverly Place") and Maeghan Martin ("Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam") as they attempt to make being yourself the best way to be, despite the popular girls played by Maiara Walsh ("The Vampire Diaries") and Nicole Gale Anderson ("Jonas") disapproval. Despite how awful the the trailer makes the film appear, "SNL" star, Tim Meadows obviously thought the paycheck was worth it, as he is revising his role as Principal Duvall.

"Mean Girls 2" will be released straight to DVD in February of 2011.
