Filmmakers Protest Videos-on-Demand

Big names in the film industry like Peter Jackson and Avatar creator, James Cameron wrote an open letter recently saying that videos-on-demand are hurting the "financial model" of the film world. Right now many of Hollywood's biggest studios have come to an agreement with DirecTV is allow them to release films as early as eight weeks after their release in theaters as opposed to their typical four month waiting period.

Some companies, like Amazon, also offer videos-on-demand.

This could end up effecting movie lovers in the long run because less profits means less money goes into making the films but it also means that we can get watch some of new favorites even sooner without having to pay for a theater ticket.

What do you think-- do you agree with the filmmakers or are you happy you will be able to view your favorite films (like ahem... Breaking Dawn) at home earlier then you normally would?
