Live-Action 'Little Mermaid' Film in the Works

Director Joe Wright, who is best known for his work with the film Atonement and the soon to be released film, Hanna, is currently in the pre-production stages of creating a live-action version of the film, The Little Mermaid.

For those who are fans of the Disney version, don't expect this film to be the same. Wright said that this film will be dark and will be based off the story written by Hans Christian Andersen. Despite the fact that this version of The Little Mermaid will not replicate the animated film, Wright still hopes that make the movie family-friendly.
