A film based on a fictionalized tale of an American girl that marries into British royalty is currently in the stage of pre-production. Recently a bidding war has been taking place as to what studio would own the rights to make the film based on the large popularity of the Kate Middleton and Prince William wedding, but Sony Pictures is now officially the films financial backer.

The film was written by the screenwriters from 500 Days of Summer, Scott Neudstadter and Michael Weber. The flick is currently being described as a royal version of Meet the Parents.
