Catherine Hardwicke Opens Up About 'Twilight' Firing

Catherine Hardwicke who made a name for herself being the first female director to make the highest grossing film Twilight, made headlines after Summit Entertainment announced that she would not be directing the second Twilight Saga film, New Moon.

This week an interview with Hardwicke was published in Newsweek in which she explained the truth behind not directing anymore of the films. "I do not regret it at all, thank the Lord," Hardwicke said. "The truth is I liked the first book the best."

Hardwicke also went on to say that Summit never fired her from directing the second film despite previous reports. "I couldn't even be fired, that's what's so funny. In my contract, I had the first right of refusal."

The director also commented on the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson relationship saying that she had a feeling the two might become real-life partners and that she remembers warning Pattinson, "You've got to focus, dude, or you're going to be arrested. I made him swear on a stack of Bibles," Hardwicke said.

Granted most of this information we have heard before but I think it is nice to know that Hardwicke didn't get fired and that it was her choice to walk away.

Do you think Hardwicke should have directed more of The Twilight Saga films?
